Pura Vida

The hubs and I were able to get some time off last week and scape to Costa Rica. Like I mentioned before I had a craving for something other than the beach or a historic city, so we decided to do the rainforest of Costa Rica. We found a pretty fantastic hotel by the Arenal Volcano that includes a private plunge pool fed by mineral hot springs.

Even though our focus was relaxation (incredibly easy to achieve in our beautiful villa and their sensational spa) We wanted to explored a bit. The hotel offered many activities, but since we were in relaxation mode, we decided to go for things that we had never done before. We were very intrigued by the opportunity to volunteer at Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue.

We were very intrigued by the opportunity to volunteer at Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue.

Every story touched our hearts, but for me there were two cases that completely melted me. One was a raccoon who came to the center because of an infection, but later they found out that he had a neurological issue. He use to not be able to move with out shaking but today he is able to move better and they are hoping that he might be able to go back to the wild. We actually saw him working so hard to get water and I just couldn’t help but cry. The other was the Piquito the Tucan, his owner splashed acid to his beak. His deformity has not stopped him to sing and to enjoy the sun. The center is actually looking for donation to get him a prosthetic so he can eat and have a more normal life.

We also went to a cacao farm to learn to make chocolate. It was so much fun and it was so nice to make our own hot coco from see to actual beverage! The hubs and I felt in love with Costa Rica. It is not only because it is a beautiful place but we felt in love with the people. They are so nice! I mean everywhere you travel people are nice, mostly because you are paying them. But the people of Costa Rica are genuine nice. I can’t believed it took us this long to visit Costa Rica. I can’t wait to go back and keep exploring that beautiful country!
